Operator's Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Mendoza city. Transfer airport-hotel lodging (760 m). * Hotel
Day 2: Free day in Mendoza (760 m). * Hotel
Day 3: Transfer in private vehicles from Mendoza to Penitentes where the group will spend the night (2580 m). * Hotel * Vehicle 3-4 hrs
Day 4: We drive from Penitentes to Vacas Valley entry, where the approach begins. Around 4 hours later we arrive to Pampa de Lenas, our first trekking camp (2950 m). * Camp * Trekking 4hrs
Day 5: Hike to Casa de Piedra, our second trekking camp (3240 m). * Camp * Trekking 6 hrs
Day 6: Arrival to base camp, probably the hardest day of the approach (4190 m). * Camp * Trekking6-7 hrs
Day 7: Rest day at base camp (4190 m). * Camp
Day 8: Equipment carrying to camp 1 and return to base camp (4190 m). * Camp * Trekking 5 hrs
Day 9: Rest day at base camp (4190 m). * Camp
Day 10: Move to camp 1 (4800 m). * Camp * Trekking4-5 hrs
Day 11: Equipment carrying to camp 2 and return to camp 1 (4800 m). * Camp * Trekking4-5 hrs
Day 12: Rest day at camp 1 (4800 m). * Camp
Day 13: Move to camp 2, chopper camp on the Guanacos valley side, (5350 m). * Camp * Trekking5 hs
Day 14: Move to camp 3 (5839 m). * Camp * Trekking 4-5 hrs
Day 15: Summit day. To optimize the possibilities of the group to get to the summit, in case of bad weather, we will make up to 3 summit attempts.
Day 16: Second summit attempt.
Day 17: Third summit attempt (5839 m). * Camp
Day 18: Camp 3 - Normal route base camp (4350 m). * Camp
Day 19: Plaza de Mulas – Penitentes: this walk takes approximately 6/7 hours to the park entrance at Horcones Valley, from where we will be driven to Mendoza by vehicle, after picking up our gear in Penitentes (760 m). * Hotel * Trekking 6-7 hrs * Vehicle 3-4 hrs
