Puerto Natales is the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park and is located on the edge of the Fjord of Last Hope (Seno Ultima Esperanza). With a population of about 20,000 inhabitants, it's not too big and luckily very accessible for tourists as you can take a bus from the nearest large airport 3 hours away in Punta Arenas or catch a bus from El Calafate over the border (5hr journey).
Because of it's proximity to Torres del Paine (2.5hr away), Puerto Natales is the perfect place to stay to prepare before your hike and relax after.
Beautiful Spa Hotel
A great place to celebrate a special occasion, be it a birthday, honeymoon or anniversary, Hotel Indigo is a modern boutique spa hotel with views overlooking Last Hope Sound. Plus it's just a stone's throw from the town's main shops and restaurants. The hotel maintains a tranquil atmosphere in it's open communal spaces with sofas and hammocks to relax in and a luxurious spa with outdoor jacuzzis on the roof. The hotel's modern-but-cosy cafe and restaurant 'Mama Rosa's' lies in the old part of the building and it's here that you come to a buffet breakfast in the mornings and can choose from a menu of seafood, meat and crispy pizzas in the evening.
Rooms are cosy and intimate, with subtle decor, lighting and open plan bathrooms - creating more space and a cosy space to relax in. The Indigo offers four different types of room; Esperanza, Dorotea, Corner (2 windows overlooking fjord) and Suite (fresh fruit, breakfast in bed) ranging from £161 per night for a standard double room during high season (16th November to 14th March)

Authentic Lodge
'Kau' meaning 'house' in Tehuelche, gives Kau Lodge its name. This hotel has a focus on simplicity and authenticity; with only 5 rooms so far (there are imminent plans for more), making it a exclusive, small and cosy place to stay with lots of wood furnishings, sheep skin and eye-pleasing materials. The space under the stairs has been turned into a small climbing wall and in the foyer area you'll find comfy chairs where you can sit by the fire, read a book or use the wifi. Just in front is the new cafe serving the best coffee in town with large windows and views out onto Last Hope Sound which is literally in front of you. Breakfast is simple but nice and is served at long wooden tables and is reminiscent of school benches and you'll often find people quietly sitting there with a scone over a guide book during the day.
The rooms are modern and simplistic with large stones on the wall from which to hang your coats - nice touch! Beds are comfy and rooms are warm, all you need for a decent night's sleep. Prices start at 58.500 Chilean pesos per night for a double room (approximately £74).

Cosy B&B
The recently renovated Hostal Amerindia is located on a quiet street close to the fjord and within walking distance from shops and restaurants. A great place to stay if you're on a budget, the Amerindia isn't actually a hostel in the sense that there are no shared dormitories on offer. The owners have worked hard to make this a truly rustic place - with wood burning stoves in the two communal sofa areas and artisan art, crafts and food sold in the shop-cum-cafe. A hearty breakfast is served in the cafe and don't forget to buy one of their delicious handmade cakes.
Rooms come in all different shapes and sizes which gives this place its character and charm. Twins, doubles and triples are available and each come with extra blankets and towels. The cost of staying at the Amerindia in a double room with private bathroom is $40.000 Chilean pesos in high season (Approx £50).
