Ultra Running events in Patagonia

El Origen

This is a trail run over 4 days climbing up to 2500m altitude. The race is set in Neuquen, crossing lakes and rivers, running through local mapuche villages. This is a unique experience to see a part of Patagonia less frequented than Bariloche and San Martin de Los Andes finishing on the border of Chile: Volcan Copahue.

Cruce De Los Andes

A 3 day adventure race of approximately 100 kilometres run over 3 days.  Starting in Argentina, the route crosses the cordillera finally crossing the border into Chile on the 3rd day.  The route combines fantastic scenery, great social atmosphere and a unique opportunity to explore and discover Patagonia.

There are normally 2 days of camping along the route.  All personal belongings are transported in a container, and is brought to the campsite each night for you to collect and set up camp.

Cuatro Refugios

This is a 2 day race climbing up to 3000m of altitude to reach the 4 refugios in the mountains surrounding Bariloche.

Patagonia Run 10/21/42/84/100

This race allows runners of all levels to experience the trials of San Martin de los Andes.  With a choice of 6 distances set in the woodland and Lanin National Park with views of the lake, during this race you will climb the mountains in San Martin, see some great views of Patagonia….

Villa La Angostura Adventure Race

This is a very picturesque hilly 42k race, which is renowned for its spectacular views of the lakes and mountains, in an exceptionally beautiful part of Patagonia.  Its great training for those aspiring to race in the Cruce de los Andes as it’s a good taster of what to expect. 

La Mision Race

An extraordinary experience of 4 days and 3 nights of adventure, covering 160 kilometres running, trekking, orienteering, planning and self sufficiency in the Patagonian mountains of San Martin De Los Andes.

Triathlon, Multi-Discipline and Adventure Races

Ironman Pucon 70.3

This is a 1.9k swim, 90k cycle and a 21k run in fantastic town of Pucon Chile, home to the active volcano: Volcan Villarica.

Desafio Aysen

This is a 3 day multi discipline race in teams of 2 where you will camp overnight along the trail.  It’s a fun race of endurance and agility with one of the team completing the final stage on horseback.

Tetratlon – Chapelco – San Martin de los Andes

With around 500 competitors this is a great race for the adventure racer who has “done it all before” and wants to add skiing and snow to their adventure race programme.  Starting with a downhill ski, followed by a tough technical cycle c50k, 10k kayak around the lake and ending with an 18k run, it’s a tough race but a great opportunity to see Patagonia in Winter.

Tierra Viva Suprema

This is a race of up to 6 days non stop race (the team deciding on when and how long to stop)  in a team of 4 covering a distance of c600 kilometres covering 3 disciplines of kayak (double), running/trekking and cycling.  There is a USD10000 prize for winning this race and winning also guarantees you free entry to the Adventure Race World series final with participants from all over the world. There is a central camp which participants will pass several times during the race where they can change, restock and sleep.

 Mountain Bike Races

Tour de la Patagonia

This is a 3 day mountain bike race covering c70k a day starting in San Martin de los Andes and crossing virgin territory to cross the border into Chile via a small village. This is a great race for the MTB enthusiast who wants to try something different with some of the most picturesque scenery in the world.

Rally de los Volcanes

A race cycling around the picturesque towns and lakes between Argentina and Chile covering 120 kilometres on asphalt.
